The Sinatra Christmas album

This 1994 collection of seasonal songs by Frank Sinatra and special guests brings together miscellaneous Christmas themed material from Sinatra’s Reprise Records era from the years 1962 to 1975.

The Sinatra Christmas Album is a very fine complement to his two earlier holiday offerings, Christmas Songs By Sinatra from Columbia Records in 1948

and A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra from Capitol Records in 1957.

The Sinatra Christmas Album features tracks from Frank’s 1969 Reprise Records album The Sinatra Family Wish You a Merry Christmas where he was joined by his three children Frank Sinatra Jr., Nancy Sinatra and Tina Sinatra.

If there’s any dissatisfaction with The Sinatra Christmas Album it’s that no one has seen fit to reissue the original 1964 Reprise LP from which several of the songs were collected: 12 Songs of Christmas by Bing Crosby along with Frank Sinatra, Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians.

A pity, because the album is not only presented in its entirety but is a rich and moving experience all on its own.

Interestingly, 12 Songs Of Christmas is considered Bing Crosby’s seventh Christmas album. Originally entitled 12 Songs Of Christmas, but later reissued as White Christmas (not to be confused with Merry Christmas, which also got reissued as White Christmas).

Bing Crosby’s Other Christmas albums:

1st: Merry Christmas (1945)

2nd: Christmas Greetings (1949)

3rd: Merry Christmas, also known as White Christmas (1955)

4rd: A Christmas Story (1957)

5th: A Christmas Sing With Bing Around The World (1958)

6th: I Wish You A Merry Christmas (1962)

8th: A Time To Be Jolly (1971)

9th: The Greatest Christmas Shows (1978, Christmas radio broadcasts)
