If you haven’t heard it by now, Fredericton, New Brunswick power trio Motherhood is that town’s self described longest running remedial Math Rock band. Ever. And they just celebrated a big one this past Summer.

Much has changed for lead vocalist/guitarist Brydon Crain, bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Penelope Stevens, and drummer Adam Sipkema since forming fifteen years ago in August 2010. Through band members, babies, van models and haircuts their love of rock and roll, friendship, and New Brunswick has remained intact.

Playful as a puppy and smart as a whip, Motherhood pack deeply conceptual art rock into a delightfully unpretentious package, demonstrated beautifully through a successive run of five lean, riveting studio albums and half dozen singles and EPs.

Their most recent album, Thunder Perfect Mind, released this past January by Forward Music Group, was hailed as their “most cohesive album yet” by Leslie Ken Chu of Exclaim! Magazine who gave the album an impressive 8 rating. Stephan Boissonneault of Cult MTL also awarded the album an 8 while Trev Elkin of God Is In The TV gave it a full 9.

Be sure to catch Motherhood along with Penny & The Pits for their upcoming no-case showcase double bill Friday, October 24th at Xeroz Arcade Bar, 234 St George Street, Moncton, New Brunswick as part of Music New Brunswick’s MNB Music Week festivities.
